This list is for towns of 50,000 or more so there aren't a lot of towns outside of the metro that would qualify for the list. When they do the small town list there are usually many places in outstate that qualify.

For some reason I really like the Southern Suburbs. I think the topography does it. there are also awesome views of the skylines too. Plus more trees it seems like

I had to choose to live in any of those 5 Twin Cities' suburbs it'd be the 'southern' suburbs - Eagan and Apple Valley, where the topography and the views are the only things that separate them from the other 3

I wouldn't say Plymouth is a place to go curl up and die, but it IS pretty generic and non-descript. The lakes around here are nice, though. Still, I'm planning to move to Northfield soon - its smaller, and much more interesting than Plymouth.

I would not willingly choose to live in any of the MN suburbs listed (although obviously everyone has different tastes!!), but I do agree that Minnesota overall has some very nice places to live. Good options, too, and people who do prefer modern suburbs at least get to get their suburbia mixed in with great access to water and nature here in MN.
