Rosemount has grown from 8200 people in 1990 to 22,000 in 2007, that is pretty substantial growth.

From your list, Prior Lake but overall in the metro area there are places that are better then all of these.

Rochester is growing fast and will break the 100,000 mark soon, if it hasn't already.

As far as Alexandria goes, it has more jobs than places like Duluth for people without business degrees. It's also much safer than the bigger cities, so it's an attractive option for young families looking for work. My fiance and I just moved to Alex and we love it.

IMO Woodbury then Prior Lake. The other 2 are not in the same league.

Welcome Mergath-you're correct about Alex. Big expansion of 3M going on plus huge expansion of hospital. The amount of construction going on is unbelieveable. We've been here 2 1/2 yrs and have seen many changes.

To the posters question it depends on if you mean population or sprawl. If you mean sprawl( land increase) Minneapolis/St. Paul ranked 10th in the nation a couple years back. Population increase is steadily growing in many MN cities. I think New Market/Elko, St Cloud, Rochester are good choices along with practically every other city mentioned. Might be easier to list which cities are declining in population. EW

I was born in Alexandria and I have seen it grown huge. The neighborhood I grew up in is not recognizable, which is sad. So many areas that were wooded have been long since cut down for new housing. Still, Alex retains it's hold on Minnesota nice, which makes it appealing. I think the one thing that is holding it back is the lack of mass transit. We have always had taxi's, which are pricey, and there is the Rainbow Rider which is cheap but isn't very reliable. If there was someway to introduce a efficient, economical and reliable mass transit then this place would totally blossom. Mass transit might make the cold bearable, because I would be able to get to and from work, the grocery store or whatever, without the worry and hassle of using a car that may not start. I think that Alex won't grow much more until there is a good mass transit system in place, I for one would definitely use it.
