Want to move out of Plymouth, MN to possibly Eagan, Edina, Eden Prairie, Golden Valley, Minnetonka. (Minneapolis: apartments)

I'm looking for a place to move to and I want to get out of Plymouth and either the same distance as Plymouth to downtown or closer. I haved looked in Eagan, MN, Edina, Golden Valley, some places in Minnetonka, and Eden Prairie. The people seem to be more friendly in south of Minneapolis and eagan seems to be city with a country feel. I haved look in Edina and it seems like it is a nice area but some of the apartments on out of my price range. I don't know much about Eden Prairie. I would like the pro's and cons of what you feel about living in these areas and any suggestions on other places to look and apartments to look at.

The area around Yankee Doodle Rd and Lexington in Eagan is a great place for young renters. There are several different complexes from straight apartments to townhouses so you have some variety. They are walking distance to the shopping complex there which is also nice, but also easy access to the transit station and 35 for commuting.

I would also suggest looking along Hwy 110 in Mendota Heights, West St. Paul and into Inver Grove Heights, again, same situation, lots of younger renters, easy access to commuting routes and transit. They are probably all easier commutes then coming from Plymouth too.

Eagan is nice. My friends have a great place off of Yankee Doodle Road, two bedrooms, dog friendly, country feel with neighbors all around.. for $800 a month. I was floored!
