Some of the Western suburbs: Mound, Waconia, Chanhassen, Mayer/Watertown, Delano, Long Lake. I grew up in the area...pretty area, smaller towns but close access to major highways.

Another good area is Big Lake, Becker, Elk River, Monticello, St Michael. Home costs tend to be less than the Lake Minnetonka area.

Maple Grove is alright.... If you pick any of the E suburbs you cant go wrong.... Edina, eden prairie, eagan... Eagan the better bargain.

I'd disagree but again it's all personal preference. All the E suburbs also happen to have bad traffic to get anywhere. Maple Grove is the north western most part of the twin cities. You can't have it all.
