I hate the State Fair.
I never understood it's appeal.
It would be cool if you could actually walk.
And the food, meh. All you hear about is 'How awesome the food is!!!!"... big deal, just a glorfied carny experience is all the state fair is.

makes you wonder if any of these bums work. How can 100,000 + people not have to work during the day? It blows my mind. Maybe if some of these bums started working we would be able to get out of this recession.

I don't like the fair either but the comment you're making about all these people not working is pretty asinine.

We always went on a Saturday, but I haven't been there in years. Since I was in high school. I would love to go back, but it makes for a really long day living in Western Minnesota.

I've never been to the state fair, but I will try to go next year. Im not that interested in things like that and I might find it overrated, but I have to go atleast once. I don't even really like going to Valleyfair anymore because I have been there way too many times and have had several season passes throughout the years and every roller coaster there is now incredibly boring, I want to take up something like bungee jumping now, of course it will be scary at first, but if I were to start doing it several times a year and everything, that too will eventually get boring.

My parents are going to the state fair this year and my mom is a stay at home mom and my dad only makes around 40k, and we have 6 people and we also live in a 3 bedroom apartment, used to be 7 but my oldest sister is moved out. Not only do we live in a 3 bedroom apartment, but were also very happy and not miserable and depressed. My dad is taking a single day off work to go to the state fair.

I love, love, love the fair. Not sure when we'll be going, but I'll be heading there twice this year. I'd go more than that, but it get expensive. I have gone every year that I've lived in Minnesota, and during the years we lived in other states I sometimes scheduled visits to coincide with fair time. (I'm not the only one to do that: I know of plenty of other people, including non-MN natives, who have discovered the fair and fold it into a nice end-of-summer-vacation.)

It's the ultimate Minnesota experience. Everyone from every part of the state is there, and the people watching opportunities are priceless. And there really is something for everyone.
