I saw a 15 day forecast on the Strib a day or two ago and I saw a 92 high forecasted for July 2 or 3.....so July could be a completely different month, who knows....

I live in Duluth, and even though I am "on the hill" away from the Harbor, it's been an awful, pitiable June. Highs regularly in the 50's, cloudy skies, lots of rain lately, etc. Down at the Harbor it's been even worse...they averaged a high of 56 so far this month.

Compare this to Minneapolis, which has actually has been having a rather pleasant June, especially if you are in an air-conditioned environment indoors.

This may be a stupid question, but are the trees still bare up there in Duluth?

No. They all grew leaves by about May 20th, a little ahead of the usual schedule.

Before today, Duluth had three days in a row with highs in the upper 40s lows in the mid 40s, wind chill making it feel like it is in the 30s, cloudy, rainy, and windy. That is freezing cold weather for Late June.

And most of the rest of June in Duluth wasn't as cold as those three days but still cold, especially for June.

But at least 95% of Minnesota did not have to deal with the exact weather Duluth area dealt with. The rest of Minnesota most days seemed much warmer than Duluth.

Even during the 2 day heat wave there when Minneapolis reached 104 degrees one day and 97 another day Duluth only had a high of 54 degrees both of those same days.

Looks like it is once again hot in the rest of Minnesota. At the Duluth airport it hit 71 today; at Sky Harbor, only 54. However,

> Minneapolis had a high of 95 today and a humidity-adjusted high of 105 F.

> Red Wing had a high of 97 with a humidity-adjusted high of 110 F.

> Moorhead had a high of 95, a high dewpoint of 81 F (which persisted for over three hours - enviable even for the tropics), creating a humidity-adjusted high of 116 F.

> Knoxville, IA had a high of 99, and incredibly high dewpoint of 84 F (above what many tropical regions experience), and a humidity-adjusted high of 128 F - weather usually only seen in the Persian Gulf.

It must be tough living in Duluth this time of year. It's like San Francisco, except without the mild winters.

8 degrees shy of 103, but it felt even hotter | StarTribune.com

An "excessive heat warning"...? What is this? It hits 90 and Minneapolis issues an "excessive heat warning"?

The heat index was 106. Heat warnings are issued by the National Weather Service for all parts of the country when conditions like those are present. This is true even for southern cities like Atlanta.
