I would think so. It looks to be fairly common on some of the metro area lakes - there are plenty of houses that have their dock and some property on the other side of the road.

One concern for me would be whether people have much trouble with people taking stuff (lawn chairs, etc.), or whether people are generally pretty good about it.

Probably not an issue in most of the metro.

I think it would be fine having the lake a road away. Could be safer with kids as opposed to a lake in your back yard IMO. I grew up on a lake and ours was in our back yard. There was kind of hill down to the waters edge... sucked to mow.

I think I would hate to have a road between my house and the lake if I was buying lakefront property. I don't think relaxing on the deck enjoying my view of the lake or sitting outside with some friends around a bonfire would be the same with cars, neighbors walking dogs, and kids on bikes all basically cutting across my "yard" between me and the lake. I would prefer the lake side to be more private than that.

Unless the taxes aren't as bad a lakefront property. Otherwise I am with you on this one.
