I’m not sure why this topic was interesting to me, but I read up on the facts and theory for about an hour last night and I wanted to get everyone’s input. The Smiley Face Murder Theory (also known as the I-94 Murders in Minnesota) that was happening from the late 90s – late 00s.

Basically, there were dozens of murders up and down college campus’ off I-94 with young, successful, athletic, attractive 21 – 23 year old guys would end up in the river after a night of partying at a party or bar. Once the body was found, they would find a smiley face near the spot they think the body was dumped.

Does anyone remember when this was a huge issue? I was in college from 2002 – 2006, right when everything was happening and I was even at one of the parties that eventually led to someones death in Moorhead. I also knew a friend of someone who ended up dead at St. Johns in the fall of 2002.

Some links to refresh your memory if you weren’t in college when all of this was going down:

What do you guys think? Thoughts?

Yeah true.

But, when I'm stinking drunk, I don't want to walk to a river all by myself, much less get close to the river, much less lose my footing and fall in, much less be too drunk to get myself out of the river, much less have it happen 40 times within just a few years.

Just kinda weird...

not weird that mommy and daddy don't want to believe that their all-american boy is a dum-azz that fell into the river when he was s-faced and taking a leak.

I'm especially baffled by the fact that they can find a smiley face graffiti nearby the scene of approximately where all the bodies were dumped. I mean, when's the last time you saw a smiley face graffiti somewhere! Its so...rare, and original!
