positive news for stadium/rasino proponents in that the apparent front runner, Divid Hann (Eden Pairie) to replace ousted senate leader Amy Koch was passed over in favor of David Senjem (Rochester). Hann was perhaps the most vocal critic of using the expansion of gambling to help fund a new stadium and intoduced a bill in 2005 to abolish the state lottery.

Senjem, on the other hand, introduced a bill this year to allow racinos in the two horse tracks although at the time they were specifically not tied to any stadium measures.

None of this was tied to the Arden Hills site though. Plus the gambling options result in state funds. Meanwhile Ramsey County still isn't bringing any kind of funding to the table. As a result I have to think the less expensive and city funded Minneapolis sites still have an edge at this point.

Ramsey County has since proposed a 3%, county-wide food & beverage tax after the governor stated that they would likely need a referendum to enact their 0.5% sales tax plan. Something that the County Commissioners stated that local precedent (Minneapolis) would allow without a referendum.

This appears to be Arden Hills best "last-shot" at getting the local component funded but still considerably more than what Minneapolis has been able to identify.

I may have missed any reaction to this proposal from Dayton or the legislature but don't recall any summary dismissal at this point, as was the case with the sales tax proposal.

There may yet be something being developed behind the scenes that would attempt to fund the entire $650M at a state level as Minneapolis doesn't seem to have a realistic plan in the works either.

Say what you want to say, but the Vikes will kickoff the 2016 season in Arden Hills, MN... These forums are saved for years, so come back and read this thread then and we'll see who's eating crow.

So currently MN has four options, three of which are tied to downtown Minneapolis.

1. Arden Hills - big tax hike

2. Existing Metrodome site - Vikings must play at TCF Bank Stadium during construction

3. Linden Avenue - owned by the city of Mpls and Xcel Energy

4. Farmer's Market

Which option is likely to ultimately gain the most momentum?

Which option would ultimately make EVERYONE happy?

That could very well be the case but for the record I really really hope it isn't built there.

If they relocate to LA, will MSP be the largest metro to not have a pro football team?

Good thing I don't really like football.

If the Vikings leave, MSP will have another team within 4 years.
