North Dakota has oil, bison and nuclear weapons.
South Dakota has governors that can run over motorcyclists, yet keep practicing law.
Wisconsin likes its tourists with fava beans and a nice Chanti.
Iowa suntans reach from hairline to neckline.

I've always been partial to the UP as Wisconsin's dunce cap.
North Dakota's state tree is the telephone pole.
Nothing comes to mind for Iowa, but I know the jokes are out there.
I'm not sure that I've ever heard a SD joke growing up in the Twin Cities.

...but it's all in good fun. Nothing but respect for the region.

Thanks for taking it easy on your lower-western neighbors.

Minnesota is a great neighbor to have and I really don't ever hear anyone bashing it. North Dakota and Nebraska seem to be the ones I hear the most jokes about.

South Dakota is the best of our neighbors, IMO. It's got excellent beauty in the Badlands and Blackhills. They have great cities in Sioux Falls and Rapid City. Most SD football fans are fans of the Vikings. The people aren't considered 'Cowboys' like North Dakotans. They aren't considered 'cheese heads' like Wisconsinites. They aren't considered 'corn eatin' hicks' like Iowans.

Are we also forgetting about Ontario and Manitoba?

I think the Wisconsin Rivalry is a fun one. We take pokes, but I think each state has a respect for each other. Most Minnesotans will agree that Wisconsin is beautiful and a great place, and most Wisconsinites would say the same about MN.

I can attest to the Duluth -- Superior rivalry to be much more intense up there than the Twin Cities (which is weird because the Twin Cities meto spills into WI) I lived in Duluth and I was surprised how crazy it was up there.
