United States Boys High School Hockey Rankings
We were on a campus tour at Bemidji and there was a player from Georgia on that tour. He was pretty much the equivalent of GA's "Mr. Hockey" from what we understood. He didn't make it past day one of tryouts.

Georgia apparently has a few high school-level hockey programs, probably due to the number of northern transplants down here, but most high schools down here are almost entirely focused on one sport: football.

Some other sports get focus now and then, but most news sites just pay them lip service. Football news (and speculation about the next season during the off season) seems to dominate the media here.

While spring breaking in Mexico I met a kid from Oklahoma. He was so interested knowing I was from MN, about hockey. He was apparently "really good" at hockey- one of the big names in OK, and his parents and him just kept asking me questions about MN hockey- the tradition, why everyone was so good. They couldn't understand how their child (who was super awesome in OK) had a hard time in a summer hockey camp he went to in Bemidji at some point. Apparently he couldn't keep up with the Minnesota boys. I told his parents "people just dont realize how big hockey is here, even if we never play organized hockey, many of us know how to skate-because that's what we do as kids, trudge through 2 feet of snow to get to a warming house to lace up them skates"

Yes MN is the state of hockey, but just get rid of that song that says that at the Wild games please? Bad song and it looks weird.

It's a stupid song for sure, but not nearly as bad as that stupid song they play after every time they score. I really hate that stupid guitar.

But how can a song "look" like anything? It "looks weird"? How can it look like anything?

It's hockey tradition to have team songs. Did u watch the nationally televised game on NBC between Boston and the Wild? Because the commenters couldn't stop talking about how 'cool' the state of hockey with the kid skating to center ice and all that.

The "crowd chant" song is a great song and it's a synthesizer not a guitar and that song is widely used in the NHL after goals

If you were a true hockey fan you'd realize that every team has their own theme or song.

I like the song they pay after the Wild score if that's what you're talking about,....however, this State of Hockey song is kind of dumb and 1940s like.

Anyway, let those listen and be the judge.

I know I've heard it played at other teams' venues as well and I absolutely loath that stupid piece of music.

As far as being a "true" hockey fan, well, I grew up in the same neighborhood as Herb, started playing at age 5, played throughout my entire life and my family was season ticket holders at the X for half of the organization's entire existence and I've probably been to close to 60 games downtown. If you don't think I'm a true hockey fan, well, then, you're living on another planet.

Amazed here in Boston. Your goalie had a career high of 49 saves. He was extraordinary as was the rest of the team. Good Show MN!

Different strokes for different folks I guess, I like it.
It's really no different than the 'Skol Vikings' song or 'We're gonna win Twins!'

I like the State of Hockey song the best.

MINNESOTA WILD ANTHEM - YouTube

The Gophers one is pretty cool
