How do you control the masses? You scare them and give them a common foe
Sure, the Earth will survive and life will prevail, I don't think any scientist will debate you about that. The issue is at what cost? Rising temperatures will cause huge changes on this planet. Species that we depend on may die. Sure, new ones will grow, and we might adapt, but perhaps the expense of the needed adaptation will cost us our civilization. Civilization arose during a remarkably stable era climatically in Earth's history. If the stable weather patterns that allowed civilization to arise suddenly change, we may find ourselves SOL with depleted food sources, uninhabitable cities, etc. Humanity may go on, but it will not be humanity as you know it.

I agree we may or may not survive it.

We will not be able to stop climate change as it is always changing.

Don't be worried it will get cold and snow yet this winter.

Today the first day of winter.

The days start getting longer today! 40s into the week after Christmas! I'm starting to think this may be a short winter. (But now that I say that January will probably be arctic cold with 100 inches of snow).

I think its human nature to overestimate out impact on the world. It is a huge, complicated system that is constantly changing regardless of whether or not we even existed. A good example of this is how CO2 has been on a consistant rise since WWII yet there was a huge drop in temperatures in the 70s and we are now seeing plateau and potentially another drop. These cycles match up directly with the Sun's cycles which has a far greater impact than we could ever have.
Where do you find these crazy notions? It WAS just winter in the Southern Hemisphere.....did that play a part? I know the only news I've been hearing about the Antartic ice shelf was that they were melting....FAST!

Cycles from the sun happen very slowly, for the most part. You have to remember that the Earth's rotation and the galaxy in general operate on different time waves than we do.

I'm sure that is the news you've been hearing (see climategate). The truth is while there has been melting at the north pole ice has expanded at the south pole for the past 10 or more years.

Solar activity can affect things quicker than you think.

The science is now all-but-settled on global warming, convincing new evidence demonstrates, but Al Gore, the IPCC and other global warming doomsayers won’t be celebrating. The new findings point to cosmic rays and the sun — not human activities — as the dominant controller of climate on Earth.

Christmas and still no snow in sight, nor in the coming week. Minnesota had better have some winter this year or I'm gonna be pissed. Winter's my favorite season!
