Absolutely, they're part of the family. The older dog isnt too playful anymore but she enjoys a few new treats (or old favorites), she doesnt open the packages though although our newer one (3 1/2) may, she's curious and can easily get into things if we didnt keep a close eye on her.

She gets a new marrow bone while we are opening presents, to keep her out of the way, and a couple new toys.

The cat gets the ribbons, bows, and wrapping paper to play with and some new boxes to nap in. Quite a haul really.

Question is; why wouldn't you? My dog enjoyed the gift opening more than anyone else in the family....

Heck yes. They provide entertainment and companionship. This is more than I expect from most human interactions LOL. Last year we knew it was our labs last Christmas due to cancer so I bought him a big sirloin steak at the butchers and fed it to him over a couple of days. That was a very happy dog.

We always give our dog a stocking full of milk bones and toys. We arrange the milk bones on a plate and sprinkle it with ham and cheese. He has a fieldday!
