Equally corporate is how they make it sound like they support something, but they really don't. If the city can allow drinking for ribfest, block parties and such, why can't they facilitate it for tailgating as well? Would not surprise me to hear the NFL shut it down in the back room as part of the stadium deal. Drink your own beer from your own cooler - never gonna happen again (legally).
How do you figure? Have you ever been down to the tailgaiting lots before a game at the P.O.S. metrodome? It is a pretty good scene except for the fact it is limited in space and chopped up into a few different areas. Big grills, homemade bars, buses, soundsytems, coolers, kegs, liquor, tents....all done by and for the fans for "free", not the team. Other NFL towns still have it going on and when you have a huge area to work with like the Arden Hills option, you could really get some fun going.

latest "Downtown East" Stadium renderings include smallish tailgate areas to the West. My guess is these areas would be sold like as a package or built in to the season ticket package.

I like how they show the lightrail running down a nice cobblestone pedestrian way, when really that street is a standard (even junky-looking) concrete strip with cars running right where the people are shown walking.

I just thought of something. The HHH Metrodome has been using the inflatable dome for a while. The heavy snowfall in winter is something to consider. If the roof keeps caving in, then it needs to be replaced. If anything needs to be renovated, it is the roof. A new building material would be a good idea. Or, if you are going to continue with the dome's current building material, go with a geodesic design. The triangular design in the dome would reduce some of the stress put on the dome. There is an example of a baseball stadium that uses the geodesic dome.

I believe that is actually meant to be a hotel.

In addition to what I mentioned about the geodesic dome, this is the world's largest geodesic dome for the purpose of a baseball stadium: The Fukuoka Dome Fukuoka Dome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
If it can be done for Fukuoka, then a geodesic dome is even more feasible for the Metrodome.

Presumably they would be redoing a lot of this area? It's entirely possible they could move some streets around. I know that was talked about a bit.

What is interesting (for me, at least) is that it seems they're banking on getting the Star Tribune properties and using them for a hotel (with an updated light-rail station).

I have been to tailgates at the old met, and seen some downtown too. Lot has changed since the whiskey bottle came out of the stands in that Dallas game. I don't see things going back to what they once were.

White Earth Tribe has proposed paying the state's portion of the $400 million for the stadium in exchange for a metro based casino with a 50/50 split of the profits with the state.

White Earth tribe offers $400M for state share of Vikings stadium | StarTribune.com

Sounds like a win-win plan to me---too bad my family is too many generations out to take advantage of the casino money...dang.
