Mean pit bulls, you mean I'm sure.

That's the core of the issue isn't it? Are we just too mired in political correctness to say it? Politicians won't touch it because then people would accuse them of profiling.

Yes, from what I have noticed, but that may just be me
A majority of pit bull owners in my community also reside in the trailer park. Not just an assumption, but a fact.

A trailer park is no place for a pit bull. No wonder they get vicious.

I know that guy, he was in high school when I was teaching there--he has issues beyond his pit bull.

you kown that it is wrong when pepole start taking it out on a dog when it is the owners fault, I have a pit and she is very loving and if some one told me that I could not have her because she is a pit they would have a fight. But not doing any think about the child mulseter down the street that could take our kids life and not doing any thing about it , but going to take a dog and kill it because you are scared of it is wrong. To all law makers learn what is more importon to make it safe for our kids, dont worry about a dog because it is how you rase it that counts, All dog can be maen but it how the owners train them that counts. I cant say eought about this because its not the dogs its the owners.

What do you mean when you say that pitt bull owners in your community reside in the trailer park??? Does that mean that you reside in a trailer park? If yes, that makes your observation localized.

I see American pit bull terrier breeds in many neighbrohoods, including Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriett...

It appears to be true that people who breed their dogs for fighting provoke aggressive behavior in animals, but that doesn't mean that all the rest of the dogs should be euthenized. Why not punish people that breed dogs for fighting instead of killing all the dogs?

It's like if you make guns accessible, people that don't believe in violence, still will not purchase them. But people that were getting guns illegally, still will continue doing it illegally. Well, same anomaly happens with the dogs!

This is so sad, but still...

I have a friend who owns a pitbull. He is so loving, wiggles his butt all over so you will pet him. Pull into the drive way and he comes to the car door to escort you into the house. Lays at your feet begging you to scratch his belly with your toes. Yet, my friend has told me not to bring my 7# dog with me because Raz will kill him on sight. Is this a bad owner?

A coworker (when I worked in Minnesota) has a pitbull. One am I walked by her car when she and her husband were sitting in it. The dog was in the back seat and the slobber was flying all over the window as he snarled and barked trying to get at me. My coworker and her husband thought it outrageously funny that I was terrified. She later told me he was "possessive" of his family. Is this a bad owner?

Two young women brought three huge Rotties to our local dog park--several times--they can barely contain them on the leads and the dogs snarl at every dog in their line of vision. Once there were no dogs in the big dog park so they went in, letting the dogs off the lead. The dogs immediately ran over to the fence separating into the small dog park and continued snarling, barking and pawing the ground. No need to answer, yes, definitely bad owners. These dogs were untrained and vicious, the cops were called and the women were told to never again bring them to the park.

Sadie, a huge old Rottie comes to the park. The owner does not bring her behind the fence, but sits at the lake and fishes with Sadie at his side. I walk by with my dog and she becomes alert--staring at my boy--the owner notices immediately and cautions her, she drops her eyes. Thereafter, each time I pass, she looks and I say "good girl, Sadie", and she relaxes. Good owner, yes, but a good dog, no anger in her.

Unfortunately, the pits and rotts appear inconsistent in their behavior, no matter the upbringing. What can be done about that?
