My favorite city outside the Twin Cities metro would be Duluth:
Love how hilly the city is, very nice people, umd hockey, great lakes aquarium, the aerial lift bridge and the beauty of the area.

What MN city or town is your favorite outside the Twin Cities metro?

Duluth
Grand Rapids
Bemidji
Rochester
St Cloud
International Falls
Detroit Lakes
Winona
Mankato
Other?
I'd have to go with Ely, although Duluth would be a close second. Aside from Mankato, I'm not very impressed with areas south or west of the metro.

As for Ely; the BWCA, Superior National Forest, Wolf center, and North American Bear Center; all add up to a fantastic contrast to my day-to-day life living in downtown Mpls. I could never live in Ely, but I love to visit!

The omission of Stillwater (birthplace of Minnesota) on this list is a big oversight.

Duluth for me followed by Stillville.

Oh I gotcha. Yes, Still is sort of in the Metro, but it does sort of get a bit away from it. You go south of Still down the St. Croix and there are some really cool little towns that way as well.
