I am looking to move to MSP close to the end of this year and plan to attend a graduate program in Accounting some time next year. However, I know nothing about the graduate programs/schools in MSP. What are the lists of graduate schools in MSP and how would you rank them in comparison to one another?

Thanks!!

This may be better asked in the Minneapolis St. Paul forum.

Frankly, I'd look at some national website specifically for MBA college programs. See if any program around here ranks suitably high. I'd be surprised if we had one, but MBA isn't my focus of interest.

According to US News, the U of Minn's Carlson School of Business is #30 out of 441 nationally in 2012:

Best Business School Rankings | MBA Program Rankings | US News

and Business Week placed it in their top 50:

MBA Rankings : School Rankings, MBA Programs

(somewhere between 31 and 50 ... that section is sorted alphabetically)

Well, that's not elite, but its way higher than I thought. If it is 50th, what are the other 49? MIT, Stanford, Wharton....?

The Carlson School of Business at the U would be number one, St. Thomas would be second, and then everyone else below that. Something to consider is that B schools are in the same position as law schools right now in that they're graduating far more students than there are jobs. I'd be careful about sinking a pile of dough into an MBA right now.

I agree. Also, most businesses that want their management staff to have MBA's usually pay for them to get their MBA.
