OP thanks for sharing. Nice pictures and gives a great feel for the town. They should pay you as a tourist board rep.

Thanks for posting this. I have been passing through the city almost every year since my boyhood on vacation to the cabin with my father, but we have never gone out and explored the city center. Every time we turn left on 27 to go toward Kettle River. Maybe one of these days I will walk down Elm Avenue and take a little tour of the downtown, while eating an ice cream cone?

I used to spend some time in Moose Lake, though I never lived there. Great little town with very nice people.

Contrasting the beauty is the missing child case that made the city more well known. It's very ironic that the main employer in town is Corrections/Human Services. The old state hospital is a medium security state prison (seen partially in the pictures). Additionally there is a maximum security sex offender facility that houses "the worst of the worst" (the abduction occurred across the street from this facility) and there is also federal prison down the road. With all the city police, county sheriffs and U.S. Marshalls floating around (not to mention state and federal correctional employees) it's hard to imagine anything bad happening here.

I believe it is still there. It's the ''Little Store" that is right off the southern exit. Straight across the road is a roadway that goes to the Sex Offender facility.
