Yes, we do have to call it something. We settled on marriage. I'm sorry you're uncomfortable and that civil marriage is now besmirched because gay couples can now join an institution with a 50 percent failure rate.

I just love that "threat to the holiness of marriage". As if there's any of that left in this society. It is so much a charade. The big storm over "privacy" includes the fact that people have marriage secrets they can't afford to be publicly known. Married guys fondling boys. Or getting it on with ladies at church. Or hanging out at Hooters. Or surfing porn on the Internet. So many slick outsides and rotten insides. And then, the TEMERITY to disparage gays. Oh, and then the Cleaver family all goes to church to fool the whole world about their real lives.

It was more sarcastic. Although I hope most people will learn to understand the difference between holy and civil marriage (especially since we re-wrote the law in Minnesota that defines all marriage by the state as civil only, if that wasn't already clear) and understand that this isn't the big threat to their marriage that it's made out to be.

"Same sex marriage" is an oxymoron (conflicting) phrase.

Marriage by definition is:

"The act of marrying, or the state of being married; legal union of a man and a woman for life, as husband and wife; wedlock; matrimony."

Rush Limbaugh - explained that this whole homosexual thing has gone so far as to screw our democratic process over, because so many went alogn with redefining MARRIAGE.

Rush Limbaugh on Gay Marriage - YouTube

Too many people, even in government have been FOOLED into dishing out special rights based on sexual fetishes.
That's all homosexual practices are.
They're not platonic friendships.
They're not man/woman sex - but must use substitutes - fetishes.

How pathetic to cave in to such a childishly demanding group - to dish out special legal treatment based on fetishes!

SuperSoul - Wow, what an outstandingly ignorant post you have there. I can't decide whether to be angered or just start rolling on the floor and laughing.

I think the latter would be the best. I mean, c'mon, Rush Limbaugh?? A guy who married 4 times, divorced three women, cheated on two of them, an oxycontin and hydrocodone addict and a man who used the cyst on his butt to escape military service in Vietnam.

He's lecturing us on the morality of marriage?

In other words, they have been able to persuade the majority, that sexual relationships between people of the same gender, are exactly the same as those between persons of complementary gender. But plainly they are not. Sex between men is not the same as sex between a man and a woman, and to say otherwise is to challenge the meaning of fundamental terms.

Unfortunately, "evidence" is only evidence if people viewing it are able to decipher it as such.
Some are too blinded by their own sexual fetishes of pretending their being loving by calling poison, healthy.
