After the extremely chilly winter and early spring of 2014, what a welcome change! I know the next few days forecast will drop significantly from that, but it is still great news. Swimsuit/shorts weather on the first day of April in Minnesota... very seldom happens. Must have been close to a record high temp! It was cooler here in most cities in northern California today!

Hope everyone enjoys it and you all deserve it after what you went through last year! I am sure the trails on the south Minneapolis chain of lakes had a lot of joggers, walkers, and bicyclists today.

My gift to Minneapolis is that I will not be wearing a swimsuit in public any time soon. Mr. Winter has not been kind to my body.

Still, I've embraced with open arms this lovely weather's invite to take up jogging, so maybe in a couple months my shirt might come off outside...

I remember 2002, when we came back from a trip to south Florida in early April to a high temperature of 91F on April 15th - the earliest 90+ temperature ever recorded in the Twin Cities, and warmer than anything we saw the previous week in Florida.

Six days later, one April 21st, we got six and a half inches of snow.

Wild temperature swings are pretty commonplace in late March and April – 83º honestly wasn't that shocking. It certainly felt great, though!

This time of year is actually my least favorite, just because we get these unusually warm days ripe with false hope. It's as if Satan himself crawls out of a crack in the Earth and dictates our spring weather, taunting us with a brief taste of summer, only to blast us with wintry weather again and again until our spirits are broken.
