I am considering relocating to the Mankato area. Housing seems a little spendy right in the city? I would buy a small house. I have dogs and cats, and will be involved with horses, writing groups, art, yoga, organic foods and gardening. Welcome all advice and opinions of Mankato and also the surrounding small towns. Hoping for friendliness, and I'm in the 50s to 60s age group and single. I'm moving from small town South Dakota so familiar with the climate and unfortunately the mosquitoes. Thanks!

Did you end up moving to Mankato? If so, what do you think of the area?

Considering the OP didn't get any responses to her query, I doubt she even frequents this forum anymore.

I am still here. I did not move to Mankato, yet. At this point, the only housing I can afford would be 20 miles outside Mankato (like Winnebago, etc.), and the whole point of moving is to get closer to an area with more activities and more people to meet. I have a very good friend there so it's a place I would know at least 1 person.

Yeah, you're here! What does your friend think of the area? The Twin Cities and suburbs are expensive to me, so I was thinking of relocating to Mankato, which is less expensive. MN income tax is high.
