I am feverishly looking for either a diverter spout to replace my 1940s-1960s era vintage maybe Kohler Diverter spout, which has a broken diverter.

OR, I would like to find a reducing coupler to convert the 1 1/4" pipe opening to a standard for IPS 1/2".

I have been on several forums, and all I keep getting are suggestions I have already tried, corrections of the pipe size, assuming I typed it wrong, or just replace the entire guts of the plumbing, and I am stressed.

So, what I am looking for is either someone who has the part, or a place that definitely has either part.
The trick is: the threads are not standard. I would be ecstatic to replace the diverter, if I knew of a kit to fix this diverter. The standard plastic diverter replacement kit today will not work!

This is a chrome part, with a bell shaped escutcheon. The Spout has a built in diverter that reads "PULL FOR SHOWER PAT NO 18095672022875. The back opening is 1 1/4" wide, and is a very thin thread.
Please don't recommend "a plumbing store," or "a plumber." They will not help me, as they continually tell me what the current code is. I am exempt from code, as long as I keep the same setup.

One more strange thing is that the pipe has a strange ending. It was standard in some places, at the time, I have confirmed. It had two round holes at the top, then it had a half circle opening at the bottom. It looks like a creepy smiley face.

I have checked with the following, and no luck:

DEA
Park Supply of America
NE Plumbing Supply
Ace, Home Depot, Menards, Lowe's
Do It Best
LeVahn Plumbers
Bauer Brothers
NY Replacement Parts
ReUse Store

I also have two feelers on eBay, but apparently it is very hard to find this size opening.

Thanks!

sometimes it's best to replace vs repair, you'll pay lots more but it won't be stressed which should count for something.

what value do you place on your time?

have you called a plumber? even more money, even less stress.

Default What I value

Please don't tell me to replace. I am just asking for help with trying to find this. It is a waste to constantly hear the downers, telling me to replace.
I think the $1400 it will cost is well worth my time.
As I said in my post, I have had several plumber's opinions, and they don't care. All they say is, "the code...." Sorry, but I am sick of it!

The plumbers are upsetting me beyond end. They want to gut the walls out of my house, and charge me a minimum of $1400. Please, please, please do not respond if you want to tell me to replace the pipes.

My first call would have been Bauer Brothers, but looks like you've tried them. Have you called Gopher Plumbing?

Call Waldon Woods Antiques in Buffalo. They specialize in items that have been salvaged from older homes. They have a HUGE selection of items and if they don't have it, they would probably have a good idea who would.

Have you checked places like Architectural Antiques in N Mpls? There are 3 or 4 places like this in town that carry vintage plumbing, wood, hardware, and the like.
