How would you feel about living very near an indian reservation? Specifically which ones? They all differ in demographics. I've driven through many and have had different vibes. Some I couldn't even tell was a reservation and others were a bit scary.

Go to quickfacts census page and type in the county or area you're interested in. It should pull up all the necessary demographic data including median household income.

Actually living in the cities is more scary.

What is your question? what are you afraid of? I have lived near them my entire life and have never had any problems. Lots of people live near them some live in cities where it surrounds them. I assume you mean Minnesota. I am only referring to Northern Minnesota. No more of a worry than anywhere else in my opinion if it bothers you so much do not live near a reservation, only thing that means is you miss living in great towns like we have in Northern Minnesota'/.

I have had mixed experiences. We visited wounded knee in South Dakota. They were having a protest at the time that we didn't know about. Their mindset is that they are still at war with us... they have a small 'museum' of the massacre, and at the entrance we were greeted by an indian girl high on some drugs. We were bombarded at the cemetery by indian youth asking for money. Some to start a band, some to sell stuff. They were quite aggressive. Many had scars on their faces from knife fights. On the contrast we did meet a very nice indian woman that lived there. She was helpful, informative, and we bought a dream catcher from her. Then we hunted in the Chippewa National Forest in MN. Most the indians seemed nuetral (other than deciding to pick mushrooms on deer hunting opener). But we did see some sketchy characters walking the roads. But we have also been to other reservations in MN such as Mill Lacs and further south that were absolutely friendly. I think the 2 negative experiences has caused me to think twice. So I'm wondering which reservations do you consider more friendly vs not welcoming.
Thanks.

First how do you know she was on drugs, second how do you know scars are from knife fights, third you see sketchy people walking on forest roads during deer season> fourth stop trying to start stuff going. Do not live near an area if you are so scared of these places. Lots of people live in and around these areas in Minnesota. Sketchy characters walking the roads?

Nothing riles up the 21st century white man like the suggestion that he has herded the Indian tribes into places of poverty, despair, violence, and rampant chemical abuse with little or no means of escape. Besides, the casinos are nice, right?

and the Indians are rolling in the cash $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

The Indians pay no income tax due to "sovereign nation" and the white man pays the taxes for the roads that go thru their " sovereign nation" that the Indians' customers use.
What a great deal they have with those cash cow casinos !
