I think it's the liposuction pumps next to the gas pumps in every Minnesota gas station. "Fill up the tank, empty the trunk!"

As an outsider, with a fair amount of travel experience (even in the USA), I have an interesting anecdote (not sure if anyone else has noticed this yet but I will put it out there) - Minnesota seems to have more reasonable food serving sizes compared to most other US states! Coming from a country where the food servings are fair bit smaller than what the USA has on average, I still found it easier to finish the food that was served to me in MN than in other parts of the USA (whether CA, TX, FL, NY, IL, etc). It's still bigger than what is usually served where I come from, but it was filling in the right way! In other parts of the USA, my family and I often had to doggie bag the leftovers that we were served!

This was my observation in Minnesota in my first and only trip there back in Dec 2006!

A lot of it is accessibility to trails, parks, and healthy food.
