Being a life long Minnesotan, I can easily answer this.

The cold is the worst thing. Without cold there would be no snow, so that would take care of two problems, in my opinion.

The dark is fine. We were in Arizona a few weeks ago, and it was dark by 7:00 or so....but sitting outside on the patio, in the dark, in the 70 degree pleasant and calm evening air sipping a glass of wine was heavenly.

The combination of snow and cars. Plowing driveway to get cars in and out. Clearing snow and ice off cars. The mess all the snow gunk on cars....cold I guess too when having trouble starting cars. If it were not for all that it wouldn't be so bad....Oh, clearing snow off of roof to stop ice dams. Just dealing with snow. Remember when you were young and snow was fun?

Ice blocks that form in wheel wells. Frozen devilry.

But kicking them off is definitely one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Icy roads. That would be buried under "Other", I suppose, so I answered "Snow" since that leads to icy roads.

Not necessarily. Hardly ever. Snow can lead to slippery roads which isn't ice. You get icy roads from ice.

And where does the ice come from? Does ice normally fall from the sky? Snow packs down and becomes ice. Pressure from tires changes snow into ice.

And, yeah, slippery roads is what I was after. If there is going to be ice on the roads, I would rather the temperature be -10F rather than +25F since that thin layer of water -which is what makes ice slippery- is much thinner the colder it gets. When I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska (colder than even Int'l Falls), ice on roads was as firm for driving as on concrete when temps were -40F and colder.

Teak - Well yes, ice can fall from the sky. It's called sleet.

I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. I am so used to my state of Minnesota taking such good care of the highways and roadways in winter that I forgot others may not be as fortunate.

Drive safely!
