My husband and I are looking to move back to MN after residing in AZ for the past seven years. We're from White Bear Lake and really enjoyed living there, but know it will be too far a commute for my husband. He will be working in Savage and we'd like to keep his commute to 30 minutes, 40 tops, or less.

Looking for some feedback on where to start looking for homes? Wondering what commuting is like from all directions heading south to Savage?

Schools are very important, although our son isn't at that age yet. (I tend to lean toward charter or montessori, but know that MN public schools are great too, so it's not a necessity). Safe neighborhoods with very friendly and down to earth people would be great, and a big bonus would be organic shopping, and a Naturopathic or Homeopathic clinic somewhat nearby (I think there's a Naturopathic clinic in St. Paul).

Any thoughts or info is greatly appreciated!

Since schools are a big concern, anywhere in the 196 district would be perfect (Rosemout, Eagan, Apple Valley). It is an easy hop to Savage and the top district in the state. The farther west you go in the district the closer to work you would be (obviously).

Eden Prairie and Chaska would be other options. I would not move into the Burnsville/Savage school district however.
