I'm planning a visit to Minneapolis in the next 2 weeks. What are the best hotels (safe for a single woman, reasonably priced, nice amenities, good location for access to cultural stuff)?

Default If money is no object...

If money is no object and you want an awesome stay, try Chambers Minneapolis. www.ChambersMinneapolis.com. I've been to a couple of events there and it's very nice. The restaurant chef is Jean-Georges Vongerichten, a culinary heavyweight here in the cities (and the world).

Graves 601 is also very nice - about $250/night. www.graves601hotel.com

Hyatt Regency on Nicollet - the heart of Minneapolis - about $200/night.

Would prefer to spend closer to $150, including taxes, if possible. Not necessary to be downtown. If in a downtown hotel, need to feel safe walking around the adjacent streets int he evenings alone, at least until 9 or 10 PM. I"ve heard so much about the crime downtown, that finding a reasonable hotel down there seems daunting.

I would start with they Hyatt or the Marriott downtown, both in safe walking distance to things and you can probably find a deal online. Another option would be to stay at Embassy Suites or the Country Inn and Suites at the Mall of America and take the Light Rail (very safe) into Minneapolis for your events. The Country Inn and Suites is nice and very convenient to the Mall and the Light Rail-I have stayed here several times and would do so again. Embassy Suites isn't as convenient but a little nicer.
