Everyone has an accent.

Everyone.

By definition.

It's the "long O" sound, without a doubt, that distinguishes Minnesooooootans..

I still have to chuckle at the movie "Fargo", and Jerry Lundegaard...the best scene was with the local cop talking to the guy shoveling his driveway--one of the funniest sketches I've ever seen in a movie.

That scene was also amusing because the guy shoveling was dressed up in a parka with the hood pulled up ... yet he was shoveling slush and there was standing water at the end of the driveway, so the temperature was in the upper 30s at the coolest.

No one wears a parka, hood up, under those conditions while shoveling snow in Minnesota ... that's a balmy mid-winter's day!

Mr. Mora's Minnesota accent was spot on.

Good point. My dad has a jacket like that and he will only wear it when it is below zero windchill b/c it is too hot. I guarantee people would be walking around without jackets on in that weather they show. I had never noticed before.

Upper 30s . . . that's shorts weather.

I don't think there's much of an accent here, BUT my friends back home in MI keep teasing me for sounding Minnesooooootan.

The accents in Fargo are SO over the top. Not "wrong" but totally overdone.

From what I've heard of real people talking, many of the accents in Fargo are pretty accurate haha. Exaggerated perhaps, but I definitely hear many people talking like that on a regular basis. Ever go up to North Dakota? It's so much stronger up there!
