I thought given all the MN bashing and praising going on here, this could be a fun time to bring up these sites I have visited. Mostly they're for fun, but maybe they can actually help those who are contemplating a move in their life and aren't 100% sold on a destination yet.

Questions on Art & Culture, Education & Facilities, Recreation & Leisure, Size & Geography, Lifestyle & Organizations, Religion, Housing and Taxes. Geography is broken up by regions instead if state, so you may not find out where in a particular state (say MN) is right for you but if you select Midwest as an option I'm sure you'll get an idea of which city in MN is right. Oh, and if I remember correctly you do have to enter an email at the end in order to receive your complete results. It's free and I don't recall ever getting any subsequent emails.

Same types of categories (and geography by regions). You get an instant list instead of an email and this site also allows you to search prospective locations and compare.

The first link has been altered, it's just **** and doesn't work - to bad it sounded interesting...

The list I got from the second page is interesting. 2 of the top 6 in my list I would NEVER move to, 1 I live in now and am growing to hate. Minneapolis, where I'd like to move back to one of these days, came in at #5. I guess I should be glad it made it on the list at all.

My top 10, excluding the NE because I know I don't want to live there.
1 . San Francisco , CA
2 . Seattle-Bellevue-Everett , WA
4 . Boulder-Longmont , CO
5 . Minneapolis-St. Paul , MN
6 . Los Angeles-Long Beach , CA
7 . San Jose , CA
8 . Fort Collins-Loveland , CO
9 . Tacoma , WA
10 . Chicago , IL

Including the North East 6 of the top 10 I would NEVER move to, but Minneapolis is still in the list!

That is SO bizarre. It's still doing it no matter how I write it.

You'll have to type it in yourself but it is "find your spot" (all one word and with www. and .com at the appropriate places).

Hopefully that works. Sorry about that!

It is odd, maybe city-data doesn't like them for some reason. I found it doing a google search on the title you used in the original post. I got very different results from that site.

Palmer, Alaska
Leavenworth, Washington
Homer-Kenai Peninsula, Alaska
Divide, Colorado
Dillon, Montana
New York Mills, Minnesota
Ketchikan, Alaska
Petoskey, Michigan
Hancock-Houghton, Michigan
Kalispell, Montana

I looked at your post and the language filter is filtering out the name of the site--must be really bad .

How freaky is that?!!! Over half the places on my list are ones I have lived or lived by--including my hometown!!! I mean, my hometown is not notable for anything. The only people who know of it live in the same county, or in the Twin Cities, because their family has a cabin by there. (It was the 14th on my list)
