Thanks again for all the kind feed back above!!!

So both builders should not be the first choice, quality for their constructions are at least not satisfactory (basically rates from ok to bad in here). I will for sure check out Shannon Parkway/Diamond Path area mentioned by golfgal. Any other suggestions regard to area or builder? mnaudis4 mentioned Golden Valley, I am not familiar with that area, any comments on that (by the way, thank you, mnaudis4)? Please reply... really appreciated......

Golden valley is OK, but it boaders on the edge of north mn , which has some really iffy parts to it. Kenwood is nice, and down by the lakes, but I have no idea of the cost. Have you searched themlsonline.com?? they post photos and whatnot for you to make a better decision on what you want to look at.

Thank you so much sarahrose!!
I think I will consider rosemound and eagan first since I don't want to across the town, which might have traffic. Yet, I will still keep my eyes open for Golden Valley.
I did use themlsonline.com, I agree with you that it is the best searching engine for home buyers
It is good to know from you and all other people's opinions about Centex and Rottlund, since I don't have much idea about them and their houses and floor plan look not bad to me. I don't know if there are any other builder that are good. Maybe I will try to look at some existing houses.

I would suggest Bloomington. They have a nice housing market. I lived there for 2 years. We lived in a Grandview Townhomes town home that cost 216,125. It was one of the best places I have ever lived. At that time i was 17 and lived with my parents but. Last year they moved out and i stayed for 2 more month until I went to Beloit College. any ways that is beside the point. I paid 3/4 of the cost and it was the best town home ever lived in. and also I agree Stay away from Centex. I am very displeased with them. They left a whole in our wall said they would fix it but never did.

So there is my comment take it or leave it

Bloomington seems to be a nice place nearby. However, I just did a quick search on-line and didn't find many townhomes around 200k. Maybe the housing there is a bit more spendy?? So Grandview is a builder with good reputation then? Thanks a lot for this info mptc!
I called Centex last (before I post this thread) and want to check out their new construction model. But I might lose interest by reading so many negative thing about them here. Again, thank all of you who gave me advice and wonderful thoughts.

I just checked my listing manager, and as of right now, there are 13 townhomes in Bloomington between 180K and 220K.

They're there - ya just gota look for them!

Robert

What about St Louis Park? I know that is south of golden valley (so farther from n Mpls) and north of Edina, which I understand is a wealthy city. Some sources told me Golden valley was a nice place but not that affordable.
thanks!

I looked at the map and think St. Louis Park is a bit far and I am not sure about the traffic to work. But it might be an good option to keep in mind. Thanks for the input, midwest456!
