Hello everyone!!!
I was born/raised in MN. As an adult though I have lived all over the US since my husband is in the Navy. We are moving to Maine soon for 4 years..wondering if anyone has ever moved from Maine to MN or vise versa? What are the similarities/differences? The weather temp seems about the same...

Thanks for any replies!!!!

I've never lived in Maine but did go out to visit a few years ago. The landscapes are very similar. Acadia NP reminded me of the north shore of Lake Superior. In fact, if you've ever seen the movie "the Good Son", the big cliffhanger scene at the end was actually filmed on the north shore but was supposed to have taken place in Maine.

Northern "inland" Maine reminded me of northern Minnesota in many ways, lots of forests and water, similar wildlife, etc. They just have bigger hills in Maine.

From what I could tell, the "yankee" culture of Maine is pretty similar to MN...the people seemed to pride themselves on self-reliance and were somewhat reserved and stoic yet also friendly and helpful.

Coastal Maine seemed VERY crowded with tourists when we were there...lots of traffic on the main highway. But once you get away from the coast it was very peaceful.

Overall, I think a Minnesotan would feel pretty "at home" in Maine. Good luck!
