I'm relocating from Milwaukee, WI to Minneapolis, MN. Looking for work- and curious where I could live that is safe, and within 15 minutes from Downtown.

I'm a country girl, who loves being outdoors, but don't want a long commute to downtown. Any suggestions? Which suburb has least amount of traffic going toward downtown.

Thanks!

There are plenty of safe suburbs within 15 minutes of downtown Minneapolis. Keep in mind that your job might not be in downtown Minneapolis. Are you planning on moving before you get a job? I wouldn't make any long term commitments to a place to live until you find a job. You might end up with an hour commute that way.

Default Dinky Town, Seward, Longfellow or Cooper

I grew up near the university in the Dinky Town area. Its a quick bus ride to downtown. It's reasonably safe for a inner-city neighborhood. My other choices would be on the South side; Seward, Longfellow or Cooper neighborhoods near the Lake street bridge. All 3 offer excellent bus and/or train service to downtown and the Mall of America. The crime rate is low. Great neighborhoods.

There are no country suburbs within 15 minutes of downtown Minneapolis. Especially if you're driving in rush hour.

i would say stick with a suburb instead of the inner city because neighborhoods change so fast in the inner city that you never know what things will be like only a few months after moving in. I once lived in an apartment in the inner city that from a nice quiet, safe place to live to loud dangerous envirement in just a few months. good luck.
