A friend of mine may go to St John's U. He's never been to Minnesota but heard it's a very very cold place. Anyone can comment please?

I'm a Saint John's graduate and I loved my experience there. To this day I have yet to see a more beautiful campus. Yeah, it is cold in Minnesota November thru March.

A great university located in very scenic surroundings.

Cold in the winter temperaturewise, but the relative lack of humidity and lack of wind in the Twin Cities metro (and in most tree-filled towns) makes it a lot better. Cold weather tends to be more challenging when there's a lot of wind like in the southwest part of the state or much of the Dakotas.

The summer in Minnesota is very nice. Normally in the 70's or 80's with a few days in the 90's. I personally love the fall up there. Spring not so much, since melted snow can create quite a mess.

Where is your friend coming from? That will probably help determine how cold he finds it to be. If he is someone from the upper Midwest than the temps are going to be fairly the same but if he is coming from Florida or California type climate than your friend is in for a rude awakening.

I am a St. John's grad and have to say that it is very cold and winters long. Summers are very warm but school gets out in early May so you really do not get to experience it much. The fall is beautiful as the setting of the campus amongst the lakes/forests/fields makes for beautiful fall colors. Many people travel from the Twin Cities to come on campus and see the fall scenery.

The cold weather is hard to avoid but the St. John's and St. Ben's (Sister university) campuses are small and walkable. If living on campus at SJU the longest walk to a class for me was probably 5-7 minutes.
