I believe that I have a solution for the oil leak (actually a gusher) in the gulf. I have sent pictures, talked on the phone to horizon (offical clearing house for B.P.Only way they can be contacted in reguards to leak) and have gotten ahold of James Oberstar's man in Chisholm. This is a sure thing, it WILL work. Anyone out there have a in, or know of a way to get to B.P., James Oberstar, or anyone with with any authority that could bring my idea (already have a design on paper) to anyone with the right pull? It is so simple, that a 10 year old could think of it, but not the engineers from B.P.

Well, I don't know anyone, but with the way things are going, you would think they would be willing to take some ideas. They obviously can't handle it. Keep trying!

You know I was trying to get the information to the engineers that are dealing with the oil leak in gulf
The hardest thing is getting info to them not fixing the leak LOL

Please get this to the right people that can stop leak

my understanding you have a 22" pipe that is dumping crude oil and natural gas into the gulf. Engineers go back to basic take 23" neoprene pipe with the shut-off valve open on the top of it and install over the leaky pipe (note leave valve open) then take band clamps about 4 of them and put around pipe to tighten to leaky pipe until secure. Close valve and wha la you have now stopped polluting gulf.

This appears to be a good information source about the gulf oil situation:

You might find some industry contacts there.

You do realize this is about a mile underwater, where pressure and icing may completely change how to work with the materials.

The oil is under tremendous pressure from being under the ocean floor so far down, so it's obviously a little more complicated. But never mind, I guess they have been purposefully letting it leak for a month now.

Yup, everybody has simple solutions to complex problems.

When the "particulars" are explained to them, they usually give a blank stare and say--" gosh, I didn't consider that"

I'll bet everyone in the govt and everyone at BP " considered" it and ruled it out on day 1 as being an unworkable solution.

But, dreamers will dream !

Although Marmac is likely right, I appreciate the fact that people are thinking about the problem and trying to come up with solutions. If you think you are onto something I encourage you to try to find somebody to pass the suggestion along to.
