Why don't just gargle with Schnapps like everyone else to get them out from between your teeth?

Well, if by staying inside, you mean rushing from your car to the nearest heated building, I do that from October until April. 7 months. It's all too chilly for me, except for a few freak days in between.

I don't get that stay in-doors attitude. Sure it gets cold here, but one only has to dress for the occasion. Long underwear is the biggest need and dress in layers. MN is a beautiful world in winter, even when it's -30 degrees out. It gets cold and stays cold and we get used to it. Same ole life goes on all winter long.

Most of the snow storms occur early and late in the winter so there isn't a whole lot of shoveling to do in the extreem cold snaps. So long as the wind isn't blowing these temps can be tollerated.

I have to walk my dog twice a day and she doesn't take the winters off, so I'm out in all sorts of weather. No cabin fever for me.

There are very few days where I don't go out. I think -10F with wind is when I start to wonder inside. If you pole just this thread most of us like to be outside in the beautiful MN winter enjoying life.

My last winter in Minnesota was 1991. I don't remember spending much time at all outdoors in the winter months other than shovelling the driveway. Even ice-fishers build a hut around them so I don't know how that counts as 'outdoors'. Where I now live the average high in winter is 25C instead of 25F!

In fact, last July when I visited, the summer temps in MN were colder than the July winter temps in NQ.

Well, you're comparing a part of Australia that ranges from subtropical to tropical. Especially North Queensland.

I'll take Cairns for example. You'd be better off comparing the climate of Cairns and Miami.

Minnesota just plain is a cold place. It's for people who like cold weather. It's not for me, but I can understand why some would like that and respect their decision to stay here. (While I'm on my way out in a few months here )

Well you live in Duluth no wonder. It gets really cold up there. Don't judge Southern and Central Minnesota by the weather in Duluth.

I can judge Central Minnesota (and southern as well) because it's all cold by my standards. I've spent loooooooots of time down in the Cities since I have sisters there. Usually there's a few degree difference, but in the winter, it doesn't make much of a difference

It really makes a difference in the spring. Spring comes a month earlier in Marshall compared to Bemidji.
