Some dry counties sell beer but no hard liquer,some dry counties don't sell any kind, but the times I have lived in dry counties in Alabama, and Georgia, I wasn't aware of any laws that forbid one from keeping booze at home. Now the local Baptist church may have other ideas.

I live in a dry county that prohibits any sale of alcohol. However, it is perfectly legal to have . Which is stupid. I just drive over the county line and buy it there, so I'm not sure what the point of the law is, other than to annoy and inconvenience me. My hometown is a "dry" county that allows beer sales, but no liquor or wine. Which is even more stupid than not allowing it at all, IMO. Once in awhile people try to vote in the alcohol, at which point the churches freak out and try to guilt everybody into submission. Laaaaaame.

Dry counties are common all over the South & Central Plains.
Basically you have to go elsewhere to buy your beer or whatever. I live in a dry county in Arkansas. You go to a different county or Missouri to buy beer, wine, liquor. Restaurants like Chili's sell liquor, you might have to buy a membership to drink. It was like this all over Dallas, TX in the past. Certain areas were dry, others weren't.
You'll get by. There are plenty of drinkers in the South.
