I'm stuck in a rock in a hard place. I wanna move to Southaven,MS in July no later than August 2012, because I need to put my children in school. This is my problem, should I look for a job now or should I wait until like in 2 or three months? How long will an employer hold a position? especially a position I'm interested in. When should I start looking for a job? should I start now? This is sooooo confusing.

Are you moving here because of family? You should check out Olive Branch then.

Given how competitive the job market is, if it were me, I'd start now. Good luck!

What pepermint said. Start looking now, make it clear when you'll be available. Lots of people move around during the summer and change jobs.

You want to move there no later than August, right? So you can move there sooner, but not later.

Start looking now. Move as soon as you get the job.

What kind of job are you looking for?

My general advice is, I would definitely start looking now. And try to make as many connections as you can (not sure how you do that). I have heard that an employeer might pass on your resume the first time seeing it, but after they see it a couple times they might give it more consideration. Who you know will get your far. If you don't know anyone, you might have a very hard time finding a job.

Now, if you are in a field like nursing...you might be able to wait. There seems to always be a demand for nurses. But others might disagree.

Most employers will not "hold" a position for more than the two weeks notice you should give your current employer. I would start looking for a job now in the new location you are wanting to move unless you have 3 - 6 months worth of expenses in savings in addition to the cost of moving, renting a place when you get there, deposits for utilities, food, gasoline, and any other essentials neccessary until you find employment.
