We are originally from the area and visit often. Over the years there have been a few good places to eat, but they would close after a year or two. The property mentioned (32 acres) has been sold. I don't think the B & B would have been a success with the property. The "dry" status of that part of the county also has an effect on business expansion. We do plan on returning to Houston in retirement. Why?? Because of the wonderful people who live there!

Houston is NOT wet, it is dry, even though part of the county, Chickasaw is wet (Okolona). I opened a restaurant here two years ago and it went under. I was open on Sunday for the church crowd. The merchants don't support each other and the town has a "rat-pack" political control. I was born and raised here, went away and came back. Wish I never had!

I was born in Houston and now live in another state. Houston is a small rural town where people know most of the others. I would love to see a good restaurant open there which is open on Sunday. We still go back often to see relatives. When I was growing up, my parents would tell me that we were related to nearly everyone and those we weren't related to were related to someone in the family.
