How is Gulfport/Biloxi doing since the hurricane last year? Would it be an okay place to go for a vacation? Is there a lot of things open now? TIA.

I drove there a few weeks before school opened up this year, and I was surprised to see the ocean still look bad, along the coast. But then again, it never has been the nicest part of the ocean. I was shocked to still see new packages but damaged underwear, t'shirts, several shoes, boat debris, and trash all along the coast. I was also shocked to see how many buildings I remember seeing years ago, flatten, completely, just a slab. I'm not sure if things are back to normal or not, but the ocean I wouldn't go near. They have signs in Biloxi area saying to keep out of the water.

Several more Casinos opened up on the one year ann. of Katrina. Beau Rivage is open and I believe the Hard Rock is or will be very soon. Most hotel space is being used up by construction workers now, but you can find it. The MS coast will be a vacation meca in about 5 years!
