I am a blues fan and have traveled a small part of the Blues Trail.

Growing up in Ohio I heard the story of the musician who sold his soul at the crossroads. At one point I did some research and could remember the fella's name but have never, to my satisfaction, figured out which crossroads he went to. I attribute it to being a young kid in Ohio before the internet existed.

My wife and I were discussing vacation plans for this year and she mentioned the Blues Trail. This musician sprang to mind immediately. As I said, I've traveled a little bit of the trail but nowhere near all of it. She suggested we find this crossroads and use it to mark the start of our vacation journey.

So, does anyone know where the crossroad is?

...Crossroads Monument, intersection of highways U.S. 61 and U.S. 49. You can't go to Clarksdale without going "down to the Crossroads" to get your picture taken under the big guitars and highway signs that mark the intersection where bluesman Robert Johnson made his mythic deal with the devil.

Highway 61 intersects with Highway 49 aka the Crossroads

"I went down to the crossroads and fell down on my knees, asked the Lord up above for mercy, save poor Bob if you please." --Cross Road Blues by Robert Johnson

the Artist's name was Robert Johnson. His original songs have been covered by some of the greatest music artists that have ever lived and one would be Eric Clapton. Mississippi is the birth place of all modern music, and the blues have been emulated through rock-n-roll, and beyond!
