There was a bar in this location before, so traffic wouldn't be impacted. Police have said that crime was not anything out of the ordinary for a bar. Public need, considering that there is not a gay bar for 100 miles, I would say there is a need.
Would I go there? Probably not. But what type of power does the city attorney have to determine "public need". If nothing else has changed like a church or school being built (there are local laws keeping bars and churches/schools at a distance) then the license should be granted and the bar will succeed or fail based on the market.

lol... yeah just wait until lesbian or gay couples walk into the local Applebees or local bar, and are holding hands. Or lord forbid, giving each other a quick little smooch, just like the rest of 'us' may do with our significant others.

People will complain, and I bet those doing the complaining would be the same people keeping them from opening this bar.

MY fiancee and I have never had any problems out in public here. I have to admit I was a little nervous moving to Mississippi, but my fears were unfounded.

I do miss the drag shows though.

Oh Im not surprised you have not had any problems. I agree that not everywhere in Mississippi is like the area in question. But, Im guessing you don't live in the area that were discussing here.

I live in Baldwyn, just outside of Tupelo. Small town, and I live in the boonies. Everyone has been very nice.
I have been out junking in Shannon, and had no problems either.

Well, what are you doing to do about it? File a lawsuit? Picket and boycott Shannon businesses?

Going to junk stores, flea markets, antique shops, etc.
I like to find interesting things to re-purpose, mostly old automotive pieces. I have a 1960s truck bed that I turned into a chair. Old head and tail lights made into lighting fixtures. It's my little side business.

ME personally? Try to bring attention to the issue. PJ has a legal team that are working on the issue from the legal side of things.
