All in good fun. Thanks for being a good sport. Funny how extra (extree?) R's, S's and even ghost M's find their way into our pronunciations....

So, a city in MS passes a resolution "recognizing " gays ?

Does that mean that before this resolution was passed, the gays never paid sales tax or property tax to the city because the city never "recognized"
their existence ?

Amazing the resolutions that city councils pass when it is a slow night and too early to adjourn.

Possibly you're related to Eva Gabor? Beginning around 20:36, you'll see her adding an 's' to 'Hooterville'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsdK3Wk-XjY

I remember that show. I wish I was related to her though.

The article clearly states that 60 - 65% of the people were on board already. Is there anyone out there who believes that the city council would have moved on such a grand proposal if the poll had gone the other way?

The few people who care if someone is, L, G, B, T, or Q will not be swayed by this proposal. If that is the biggest problem facing Starkville, MS, it must be a fine place indeed.
I agree 100%. I am not for discriminating against anybody including sexual orientation. Only thing I disagree with is the diversity makes us stronger thing. All the countries with the highest standards of living have the least diversity. For example Canada in North America, Costa Rica in Central America (over 80% white), South America Argentina and Chile both over 90% white, in Africa the North African countries have the highest standard of living and they are all over 90% arab or berber, Europe is Norway, and Asia is Japan which is 99% Japanese. If you study the numbers diversity actually hurts nations, states, and cities.

Starkville is my favorite city in Mississippi because of Mississippi State University. And you have one of everything you need in a small town setting and the a good balance of liberal and conservative although the city council and mayor are trending young and liberal. Anyways keep in mind that Starkville is in Oktibbeha county. Oktibbeha county. Oktibbeha county was the only majority White county in Mississippi to vote go for Obama both times. So this should not come as a surprise.
