Since they have effectively banned abortion anyway, it seems to be a moot point.
If the lone abortion facility is still be in business in Mississippi it is in spite of the legislature's attempt to legislate its demise.

Odd. The good people of Mississippi made their feelings known through popular vote, and the elected representatives convinced themselves that the "Will Of God" must be acted out legislatively.
Perhaps they should form a WOG party.

Republicans always hate government control, yet they are the ones trying to prohibit drinking, abortions, or anything that goes against their conservative Christian beliefs.

I'm a little surprised that abortion is still legal in Mississippi and that they still have one abortion clinic that is open. Neighboring Alabama has none, of that I am sure. Not sure about Louisiana, but I've always thought of Mississippi as the most conservative, surprising.

Unfortunately, I may rock a few heads when I say this, but closing the abortion clinic in Mississippi will probably only create more problems. For one, I do foresee an increase in the poverty rate, as many women who are not financially ready will be having babies, and yes it is their fault for getting pregnant.

Secondly, if they close the abortion clinic, what will rape victims who become pregnant do? Be forced to have their aggressor's child? That is terrible.

Lastly, there is always the chance that the pregnancy will consume the life of the mother. If abortion is to be completely outlawed that means we are tipping the scale and giving power to an unborn person over a mother who is already an established adult in the local community. The mother should have total control on whether or not she wants to have this baby and whether or not she wants to give her life in order to give birth to it.
