Hi everyone,
We are looking at land in Grenada County, (nearest community is Slate Springs) and were wondering what it is like up in that area. We are from Pensacola, Fl but would like to buy some land in Mississippi (only requirement is a lake and good hunting (hmmm whose requirements would those be??)). We aren't retirement age so a town with some sort of jobs available would be nice...we have a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree between us... Is this area suitable for middle-aged workers who don't need to work that much? Is it as beautiful as the flyers show? Anyone with any comments pls answer back..

If you are looking for plenty of hunting & fishing you might be interested in Natchez. Lake Concordia is 5 minutes away. The area around Natchez has more deer than any place else in the state.
Go To: removed See new avaliable homes and other information on Natchez, Adams County. Also, no problem with the job market. Good Luck!

Hunting and fishing in that area is top notch. Grenada would be the nearest town with Super Walmart Shopping (approx 30 miles), but you could get to a grocery or dollar store in Calhoun City in just a few minutes.

Depending on your major, there would be jobs in either of those towns as well.

Grenada Lake would be closeby if you get tired of fishing in smaller lakes and there are many hunting clubs. Grenada Lake has a couple of festivals associated with safe boating practices, http://www.thunderonwater.com/tow_info.htmlThunder on Water and a fundraiser for the Joe Rowland Boys Home http://www.gogocycles.com/motorcycle-rally.html Strike Lightnin' Motorcycle Rally. Both of these events feature entertainment and draw visitors from all over the country.

My personal favorite would be the Foxhunt held in Grenada every fall and the festival on the square in Calhoun City. HTH
