I think this is a nice idea. I really love what has come of Mississippi and live in the Northeast and I go on Facebook and I see delicious home cooked stuff made by ordinary people of all backgrounds in MS.

Massachusetts, generalized as Taxachusetts, also has in common with MS despite a difference in politics on taxation and size of Govt, a common struggle against outsourcing of US jobs to developing nations

In Mass and in Mississippi there's home made stuff like denim jeans, cakes...and I say we make a website and create an MA-MS alliance. Things in common are numerous
Loving of small dogs
Baked chocolates
ATV riding
Fishing
Sea food but different kind
Arts and crafts
Oak trees
Mills

And for Massachusetts home-grown band I recommend this band from city of Worcester (pronounced "Wooster")...

Well here is what I discovered on Facebook. Of course there are Mississippians living in Massachusetts and vice versa.

But most common Facebook friends of friends who pave a path from a little Mississippi town to a little Massachusetts town, the path leads to Florida. The barrier of connection cannot be blamed on either state. Historically it's a divide on politics and religion, but I think Mississippi has now demonstrated more openness than Massachusetts.

People up north are the ones who have this unfortunate misconception of life down south, more so than the other way around. Also you will see Mississippi plates up north, in California, in maritime Canada, on mission trips in places helping individuals in poverty in third world nations. If there is an effort to bond these 2 states, it is the people in northern states that have to open hearts and minds. Another place these states may have come strongly together was in Afghanistan.
