Just unpacked a computer I was using in Madison, and thought I'd post a few shots that are in the memory. Someone in an older Madison neighborhood sent them to me. One is of a beautiful Crepe Myrtle that has miraculously been allowed to grow, unmolested, into the graceful shape they will assume, when left to their own devices. The blooms are a pretty purple, and that beautiful shape lasts all year long. There is a hedge of clumping Bamboo in the background. Nothing as peaceful as snow on Bamboo...

The other two shots are of a tree that sprouts up all over Madison County. Have no idea what it is, but the owners of these two say that Bluebirds seem to be attracted to them. Madison County is home to many Bluebirds, and a large contingent of people who actively work to keep the Bluebirds safe and happy. Bluebirds certainly make ME happy. In addition to spectacular foliage EVERY fall, the trees pictured develop shapely trunks, have extremely fragrant spring blooms, beautiful, light green leaves in summer, and winter fruit that looks like pearls on the tips of the branches. Four-season interest: what's not to love? But nobody seems to know the name...

The first one was taken while driving past a farm in a rural part of northern Mississippi not too far from Taylor. The second was taken in Taylor, MS. The last three were taken in Oxford, MS. I really wish I had more time to explore and enjoy Oxford.

I like horse/farm shots and have seen some beautiful ones in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

Oxford is very much a college town, and as such, with the namesake of Oxford, England, I find it quite appropriate that they pay tribute to their British connection. Also fitting given the large population of Scotch-Irish in the Deep South.

There used to be a double decker bus as well, imported all the way from England. Unfortunately it now sits abandoned and run down up around Renn

Yeah the majority of people I met there had Scottish roots (I got talking to a lot of folks there due to my accent)

Oxford is a very nice town.

This might be a bit off-topic, but what motivated you to move from Scotland to the great state of Mississippi?

My fiance, he is from there. He has lived in Scotland for the last 4 years but hasn't had much luck getting a career here with the economic climate. He managed to secure a great job there and I will be moving over once I get my BS in nursing. I love MS, it's a great place especially Columbus

But I love Scotland also, its a great place with so much there that I will miss dearly.
