Thank you for your response. I see it was almost a year ago when you answered. I hope you are still checking the forum. I am not the greatest on the computer. I had to figure out how to get back to the Ms forum and then find my question. My mother's name was Mosezella Sims. She had 3 sisters, Bessie, Ruby, and Shirley.(Elizabeth) She was born December 11, 1926. My grandmother's name was Nicie Sims.(first husband, Mose) She married James C. Loper and the family moved to Detroit. James Loper had a son William. Does your family recognize any of these names? Is it a growing community, property value, etc.
Again, thank you for your time.

My father was born in Montrose in 1912. I visited several times in the 1950's. I remember a 'one-horse town'....it was tiny, pop around 50. It had one country store and one post office.

I live there now. I've been here since the 80's. Its still a small town. Most neighbors are kin to one another. A lot of people doesn't know about it. They changed the city name to Louin, MS. Population about 200-400. We went/ go to school in Bay Springs, MS. I love it. You just have to be to the farming life because the nearest Wal-mart is 45 min away. But I love it.

I love history and am doin genealogy stuf and reading all of your notes is amazing to me. My connection to Montrose is through my great-great grandfather who was going to school in Montrose and Paulding around 1841. He lived in Jackson Co. Apparently your area was an education center. Someday I hope to visit there. Thanks for your notes.

Montrose and Louin are two separate communties. Montrose is north of Louin. As far as farming goes, I guess the main crops are cattle and timber, correct? God bless.
