You can still barrel house, baby, on the riverside."

Dang. I wish at least half of all the itty-bitty hamlets and towns had anywhere near as much ambitious developers as Jack Coleman, unfortunately, too many people are too grosely concerned about the so-called "negative consequences" of such ambition, and it seems that too many people put down men like Coleman as being "too radical" or as "people who want to ruin our town's quaintness and "high" quality of life".

We went through Rosedale just a few years ago and remember it well. It fact that whole Hwy MS-1 experience stuck with us.

I set out to take some pictures of Beulah, which is just South of Rosedale, and pulled off in Rosedale to see what it was made of. There is even a little museum in Rosedale. We went through it, and don't think the man sitting at the booth ever realized he had company, so you could say it's kind of a quiet little town. The guy at the mechanic shop didn't have room in his garage, so he had jacked up the customer's car with the rear end sticking out in the road. Just drive around.

If you're adventurous in that odd sort of way, that area has a lot to offer. Just don't go in expecting everyone to be just like you.
I always drive with the window down, and lots of people stopped and looked up and waved and the stranger. It's that kind of place.

With this, I would love to see the railroad in Rosedale be revived! Currently it is owned & operated by the Great River Railroad, who bought it from then-named Illinois Central Gulf in 1981. Unfortunately, the line has been embargoed since 2001 and a train hasn't ran on it since then. I'd love to see it be reopened and trains running again!
