I'm considering a move to DH, It all sounds good, I'd just like to know what those city taxes are for use of the facilities and I read that you can get fined for noises, parking on the street, etc. I mean my truck has aftermarket exhaust thats a little loud, I like to turn on my radio when I'm outside every now and then. How strict are they on this stuff?

depends on your neighbors...
I would break your speakers at 2am.
You have monthly dues in diamondhead, but I think that mainly goes for fire and police (security) .

They can be pretty strict in the Diamondhead area. It has alot of retirees. You may want to check the Saucier area just northeast of that. More country living. Larger plots of land so you are not too close to your neighbors. And yes Diamondhead will fine you in a heartbeat!!!!!!

Diamonhead is a very nice area to live in but, it depends on which area of Diamondhead you live. There is a gated area that is very strict, there are areas around the golf courses and Country Club that are also strict. The back side that is "County" is not as strict as being in the middle of
Diamondhead. Known as the Kiln (pronounced the kill) a.k.a. home of Brett Favre is more of a "country" setting where you can play your music loud, and maybe even have a band play in the front yard long as you invite the neighbors to join in! And you would be out of place in the Kiln if you had factory installed exhaust on your truck. You could even add a gun rack or have the fishing poles and no one would look at you any different.

DiamondHead was always a nice place, Pre-K at least.

Maybe it's not the place for you...

My husband was practically raised in Diamondhead. His family moved there a few years after Hurricane Katrina, even before there was a water tower. We lived there together after our marriage, between 1985 and 2005.

Diamondhead is a wonderful community, but the rules & regulations and the politics got old for us after a while. Nothing irked me more than having to have the color we painted our house approved before painting it, or getting approval to improve the wooden privacy fence.

We live in TN now, but some of our dearest friends live in Diamondhead. It is very beautiful (probably again since Katrina, people there like to have a nice yard for the most part), the people are friendly, the neighborhoods are safe.

If you don't like regulations and rules, Diamondhead is not the place for you. Even though we loved the area, we wouldn't live in the community again. We would probably live 'out back' in the Kiln area, or the rural areas of Harrison County close to Diamondhead.

Angry Diamondhead

Take my advice..I would NEVER live here again, when I do get out..the POA acts as if they own your propertymand they try to enforce their stupid rules on everyone. This was a decent place to live until Katrina, then so many people moved in do fast, many of them felons..I live on a county road, and the security personnel cannot help if you have a problem..you must call the sheriffs' office and get one of the deputies to assist you IF you can..for the most part, they are semi-literate,know nothing about the law.
The dues when I bought here were 40.00 per month..this was in 2001..today, they are 81.50 and now you must pay for garbage pickup which was included prior to the mafia taking over the POA..as you may guess,I have a fight going with them, and it most likely will go to court..stay away from Diamondhead..more felons than New orleans, trash thrown in your yard, loud music at 2-3 am..I truly hate the place.

I just moved in earlier this month. I'm renting and I love it. We're on a quiet street, not too much traffic, and my husband's truck has dual exhausts and we have not had a problem with anyone so far.

I was reading WLOX online the other day and several comments regarding DiamondHead were very negative. There was a story about violent occurance with a comment section underneath. The comments said it was the new ghetto, a nice neighborhood gone downhill and many such similar negative statements. We are an outside family looking to move to the Gufl Coast and since this was one of the places we were considering , it was a little unsettling. Actually, it was very unsettling. You see, this area is north of I10 which I am told is quite important for insurance costs. Does anyone have any input - agree or disagree? Thanks.
