I'm trying to find a house to rent in Starkville. Can anyone give me any information. I've already looked at the normal places for students: Starkville Crossing, the Highlands.

Good luck! most of the houses in that area are extremely overpriced for this area ($1000 / m and up) mostly because of the college.Unless you have some roommates most people can't afford them.As far as I know there is no website to look for them on. You usually have to just drive around.Although you can get an apartment for a decent price but you have to shop around.

Your best bet is to get you a 2 bed room town house. They are a lot cheap than a condo unless you have a family or a good high paying job on campus or rich folks I wouldn't rent a 1,000 dollar a month condo. I'd buy a house in starkville before I did that if the reason for moving was employment here in Starkville. If I was attending college I would check into Little London and several other apartment places except I would definately stay as far away from The Polos, College Station and stay away from Spruill Property Management's properties Moderator cut: edit

My husband and I are also looking for a house/apt or condo to rent, but for short term. Did you have any success finding a rental here? Any suggestions for us? We need something short term... 3 months or less. Thanks!

I'd say find a Camptown place. They are ridiculously small places with a surprising amount of room for their size located right off campus (mostly). If the children are small I'm sure you could find a comfy place, and the entire area is oriented toward an active (young) lifestyle - narrow brick streets and lots of sidewalks make it fairly safe for children and pets. If this sounds like an ad, it isn't - one of my good friends lived there a while in the village "church" (which is right next to the pool) and I was always impressed with the amount of detail, charm and character they've managed to cram into this part of town. The places are very small, it's almost like living in an oversized dollhouse, but the area is very safe, very pretty, and very close to both downtown and the campus.

Check this out: one of the New Orleans style apartments in the area. How could you not love living here?

Thanks for the tip on rue11... we have moved to Starkville and live a couple of blocks from these apartments. The only thing about them is that the bars are really close and it gets pretty loud down there on the weekend. We do love the cotton district, but want something that won't be so noisy... Our lease here runs out July 31st and we are still looking to lease something starting August 1st... any other suggestions?

A friend has a place very near the campus that would probably be 700 or more a month. It has 3 or 4br, a mostly finished basement, 2 car carport and a couple acres of land in a very nice place. He's not rented it yet but is considering it. It is not in starkville city school district if that is important to you.
